Marita Pérez Díaz is a Cuban-American Web developer and multi-hackathon winner with a background in Journalism. She is currently the Senior Web Engineer for the American Press Institute, where the main focus of her work occurs at the intersection of journalism and technology, while supporting dozens of newsrooms in the US and around the world.
For the last few years she has covered multimedia stories about Cuban immigrants, elections in Miami and Cuba-US relations. Before joining API, Marita embarked in a career transition and went back to school for web development. She believes technology is a natural continuation of her passion for finding solutions and creatively building products that help people and communities. In her free time, she finds joy in painting dog portraits with watercolor.
